I got my nails done

On an impulse, I went and got a manicure this past weekend. It was so cute n cool because it’s not something I get to do often. I just don’t ever have two hours to spare. By “I got my nails done” I mean I had someone push and cut my cuticles and file and shape my nails and then paint them with numerous layers of enamel and gel(?). I had to place my hand under a UV light to make sure the gel dried within a minute of application(?) I guess(?)

I don’t know. I always feel like such a noob when I do this type of thing. TBH I feel like an imposter. It’s just not my (regular) thing, but it’s a lot better than trying to do it myself.

While the lady who trimmed my cuticles (ever so meticulously) hunched over my hands, I couldn’t help but think about how this is such a big industry. The nail industry that is. It’s such a small part of our bodies, yet so many women place such a great emphasis on it. I imagine it’s almost like a religion for some, to maintain the nails. And it’s not just painting them, but some women opt for acrylic nails, which is a whole other animal. Then there’s the varying lengths of such nails. A the nail art! I mean….it’s actual art. I’ve seen a miniature version of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painted on a single fingernail. I mean, can you even…?

I kept it simple and went for a unicolor gel manicure this time, but I did venture out of my comfort zone and chose this blood red color instead of the usual neutral nude or pale pink or whatever.

What do y’all think?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks. ILY. Bye
